Summary:
### Serves as the behavioral health consultant and educator in the Emergency Department and Medical Units at University of Maryland Harford Memorial Hospital and Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.
Service locations may also include outpatient medical offices.
#Provides direct crisis intervention services to the child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
Completes psychiatric assessments and formulates dispositions.
Communicates with physicians, healthcare professionals, families, hospitals and community professionals to facilitate quality patient care.
Applies knowledge of diagnostic criteria to evaluate and recommend the appropriate level of care for the behavioral health patient.
# Services are performed in collaboration with attending psychiatrist and other healthcare team members.
Responsible for obtaining authorization for inpatient services.
May also provide behavioral health education.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education # Training:
# Currently licensed as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, LCPC, or LCSW-C in the state of Maryland preferred.
# May consider LGPC or LMSW.
Work Orientation #
Experience:
Minimum of three years of psychiatric clinical experience preferred.

a) effectively communicate with healthcare providers in the community; b) diffuse potentially violent situations; c) prioritize assignments; d) apply crisis intervention knowledge; and e) perform under stressful conditions.
